Thomas finds himself in a strange place called the Glades and he remembers nothing about his past. Why did he completely forget almost everything of his past? Is there a reason why Thomas was sent to the Glades? How come their phrases are different than what is normally used? Why are all of the people in the Glades boys in their teens?

The pattern that I notice is that the chapters throughout this book end in a very climatic way. For example this chapter ends by saying that one of the town's Runners collapses to the ground without a reason. In the previous chapters, it ended with the new girl coming and causing havoc in the Glades and also when a mental patient named Ben tried to kill Thomas. Due to Dashner's writing style and how he builds up the suspense, he leaves the reader wondering what will happen next. I predict that in the future, that a great majority of the chapters will end with cliffhangers and this is also how the book will end as well.
