Currently in this book, a flashback just finished where Adam described the time he went camping with Mia in the woods.
One can infer that Mia is a very conservative person by the actions she shows on the camping trip. Instead of setting up the tent in the woods, she sits down and reads a book underneath the shade. Her family also said that she is "allergic" to camping due to her uneasiness about being in the woods. She also got really scared when she heard bugs rustling in the leaves and mistook it for a bear.

After Mia and Adam had their argument with each other, Mia walks away leaving Adam alone on the Brooklyn Bridge.

Mia probably felt really relieved to let out all of the anger she's kept bottled up inside her for three years. But at the same time, she knew that she made a terrible mistake in letting Adam slip away from her again. Even though she said that she hated that Adam made her stay after her car accident, deep down she felt happy that she decided to stay. But like how Adam felt when Mia was walking away from him on the bridge, she probably felt the same way as well. She felt a sense of emptiness inside her, not knowing when the last time she would see him would be.
